Technology of horizontal continuous casting of copper and its alloys
Subject
Horizontal continuous caster with improved mould and cyclic with drawing device design.
Present situation
The horizontal continuous casting of metals and alloys is wide spreader in the practice of nonferrous metals production.
The casters of copper and its alloys include as a rule graphite mouldes.
The disadvantage is low durability of graphite walls. The main problem
of horizontal mouldes, especially with water cooled copper walls, is temperature
difference in their joint with conductor of liquid metal. Metal solidifies
on conductor surface fast destructed under this attack. For satisfied casting
surface quality maintenance the frequent casters halts with mould replacements
are required. The existing casting withdrawing devices make available low
frequency of motion cycles (withdrawing - pause, as rule, without negative
motion) - up to 30...60 1/min, deficient for preventation of formation
of surface defects obligated for condition.
Investigation description
The scheme of mould with copper active walls, boron
nitride metal conductor was developed. The joint of refractory metal conductor
with anti-corrosion steel sleeve favors elimination of metal sticking to
conductor face, facilitates technological lubrication. The developed periodical
withdrawing device presents differential mechanism making available composition
of two components: · constant and sinusoidal ones and, in sum, regime
of periodical motion of casting with high frequency and period of negative
motion.
Advantages
The investigation makes possible maintenance of process stability and satisfied surface quality (without condition)
in package with mould durability increase.
